CNC Setter/Operator (part time)

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled CNC Setter/Operator (Milling), looking to work for a well-established automotive manufacturing company, which prides itself on supporting its engineers and encourages strong team work. Offered as a permanent contract, part time hours (day shifts) and competitive pay rate based on experience.

The role of CNC Setter/Operator requires you to produce machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine (HAAS), maintain quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies.

CNC Setter/Operator duties will include:

  • Prepare and operate milling machines (HAAS)
  • Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
  • Translating instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate parts
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

Skills required by CNC Setter/Operator:

  • Previous experience of Visi software - desirable
  • Sodick Wire eroder experience - desirable
  • Proven experience as CNC Setter/Operator Milling (within automotive industry preferable)
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery (HAAS preferably) and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
  • Problem solving and tool improvement
  • Must be able to work on own initiative
  • Be organised and have the ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Be able to communicate effectively to own team and other departments
  • Proven efficiency with working practices

Location: Redditch
Pay Rate: £15 – £16 per hour based on experience
Hours of Work: 22 hours, day shifts, weekdays
